ST. ANTHONY’S GUILD REPORT

As of May 2009, the St. Anthony’s Guild has distributed $1,500.00 in food vouchers to 29 people. Last year through May 2008, the Guild distributed $1,199.00 to 25 people. St. Anthony’s Guild is the parish outreach to the needy of our community. The generosity of parishioners fund the St. Anthony’s Guild. If you would like to join St. Anthony’s Guild, or contribute to St. Anthony’s Guild, please contact the Rectory Office at 775-1994.

The St. Peter Parish Picnic will be held on Sunday, August 16. We will begin with the procession of the Blessed Virgin after the 11:00 AM Mass. The picnic will follow in the MSJ Gym. We hope to see you there.

BISHOP’S FUND

The 2009 Bishop’s Fund Campaign continues to gain momentum.  It is very important that every member of our parish communities make an effort to participate in the Bishop’s Fund. St. Peter’s has already raised a total of $25,895 of their $37,925 goal – St. Dominic’s has raised a total of $6,375 of their $10,295 goal.  This is a fantastic start and we are grateful to all those who have shown their commitment to this year’s Bishop’s Fund.

BABY BOOTIES FOR LIFE

If you haven’t turned in your baby booties it’s not too late! It is very important that the booties are returned even though you are not able to put money in them as they are very expensive to replace. Thank you for your support of this worthwhile cause for the sanctity of human life. All proceeds will be donated to Vermont Right to Life.

“WHOSOEVER DIES WEARING

THIS SCAPULAR”

Fr. Lance Harlow, Pastor of St. Charles Church in Bellows Falls, VT, will be at Christ the King Church in Rutland to speak about devotion to Mary on Tuesday, July 14 at 7:00 PM in honor of the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel (feast day is July 16). Fr. Harlow is the author of The Echo of God: A commentary for beginners on St. Louis de Montfort’s True Devotion to Mary and he recently appeared this Spring on EWTN for a program on this devotion. After the presentation there will be an investiture with the Brown Scapular of our Lady of Mount Carmel. There will be something to gain for people of all levels of devotion. Please come!

ATTENTION GREEN THUMBS!

The St. Peter’s Gardening committee will be meeting after the 11:00 AM Mass on Sunday, July 19. This is a great way to get involved with your parish community. So, bring your ideas, and a friend. Please contact Nichole Peterson with questions at 802-773-0370.
