RECONCILIATION

First Reconciliation will be held on Saturday May 1st at 10:00 AM at St. Dominic’s.

It is very important that your child not miss any of the remaining classes. We will be having class on April 18 & 25. Your child MUST know the following prayers: Hail Mary, Our Father and the Act of Contrition by April 18th. If they do not know their prayers or have missed any of the remaining classes they may not be making reconciliation this year. April 25th will be the rehearsal for reconciliation. One or both parent will need to attend this class.

Lastly, family and friends are invited to the reconciliation celebration. There will be a small reception held in the Rectory after the celebration. Please let either Marla or Marie know how many will be attending. If you have any questions, please see Marla after class or give Marie a call at 459-2834

St. Dominic’s Annual Spaghetti Supper will be held on Saturday, April 24 in Fr. Crowley Hall. More information to follow.

REGIONAL MASS FOR THE YEAR OF THE PRIEST will be celebrated on Thursday, April 15 at 7:00 PM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Rutland. This celebration calls us to give thanks for those who serve in the priesthood, praying for the guidance of the Holy Spirit in their ministry. We also join in praying for our youth, that they may be attentive to God’s call to a vocation in the priesthood. Bishop Matano will be the main celebrant, Fr. Naples the homilist. A reception will follow in St. Anne’s Hall. All are welcome.

Did You Know?

The Prevalence of Abuse in Society

In surveys of adults, one out of five women and one out of ten men reported that they were sexually molested before they were 18 years old. This means that an estimated 40 million adult survivors of child sexual abuse are living in the United States today. An estimated 9.6% of all school children will be molested by an educator or an employee of a school between kindergarten and 12th grade. Between 13 and 34% of all females will be victims of sexual assault before the age of 18, and 7 to 16% of all males will also be victimized before they are 18. For particular help you may call, Kevin Scully or Jeanne Bruno at the Roman Catholic Diocese of Burlington at 1-802-658-6110.

MEN’S ONE DAY RETREAT will be held on Saturday, May 8 at Christ the King Church Parish Hall in Rutland from 8:30 AM to 5:15 PM. Free will offering accepted. Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. Contact Peter Laramie to sign up at 265-3198.

CHRIST THE KING SCHOOL RUMMAGE SALE will be held on April 24th from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM in the school gym at the corner of Killington Ave. and South Main St., Rutland.

A PRAYER FOR HEALING VICTIMS OF ABUSE

God of endless love,

ever caring, ever strong,

always present, always just:

You gave your only son

to save us by the blood of his cross.

Gentle Jesus, shepherd of peace,

join to your own suffering

the pain of all who have been hurt

in body, mind, and spirit

by those who betrayed the trust placed in them.

Hear our cries as we agonize

over the harm done to our brothers and sisters.

Breathe wisdom into our prayers,

soothe restless hearts with hope,

steady shaken spirits with faith:

Show us the way to justice and wholeness,

enlightened by truth and enfolded in your mercy.

Holy Spirit, comforter of hearts,

heal your people’s wounds

and transform our brokenness.

Grant us courage and wisdom, humility and grace,

so that we may act with justice

and find peace in you.

We ask this through Christ, our Lord.  Amen.
