FOOD ASSISTANCE FOR
The rising price of fuel is
taking a big bite out of everyone’s food budget. Help is available for Seniors
and retired folks who qualify. The Commodity Supplemental Food Program and the
Food Stamp Program are two important food assistance benefits for people over the
age of 60. The Commodity program provides a 30 lb box of nutritious food,
distributed each month at several locations in
Food Stamps help people of
all ages to eat better. For a person age 65+, the Food Stamp benefit comes as a
check, directly deposited into the bank account of the recipient. Those under
65 are issued debit cards with accounts into which the monthly benefit is
deposited. Purchases are subtracted each time the card is used to buy
groceries. It is easier for older adults to qualify for Food Stamps because
their monthly income can be higher that younger folks. There is a $3,000 limit
on savings. In determining if a Senior is eligible for the Food Stamp benefit,
the following living expenses are taken into consideration: medical/insurance,
rent, mortgage, property taxes, home owner’s insurance and utilities.
To learn more about these
programs and how to apply, call the Senior HelpLine 1-800-642-5119 or 786-5991.

WHEN GOD CREATES:
“THE THEOLOGY OF THE BODY”
Are “Men from Mars and Women
from Venus” really? Or, does our Church’s “Theology of the Body” hold the TRUE
key to unlock and understand the mysteries of our complimentary yet distinct
natures? Come and See for yourself!! Fr. Thomas Loya, nationally-known speaker
on “The Theology of the Body”, will be in the Diocese of Burlington from
Wednesday, September 3rd through Saturday, September 6th
to explore how and why God created men and women with different yet
complimentary physical, spiritual and intellectual characteristics. Both married
and single people should find this topic insightful and entertaining! He

Just a reminder that the
A priest was preparing a man
who was dying. Whispering firmly, the priest said, “Denounce the devil! Let him
know how little you think of his evil!” The dying man said nothing. The priest
repeated his order. Still the dying man said nothing. The priest asked, “Why do
you refuse to denounce the devil and his evil?” The dying man said, “Until I
know where I’m heading, I don’t think I should make him mad.”
