VESTMENT COLORS
White (albus) is the color of purity and light and the Resurrection. White is used on feast of the Lord, throughout the Easter season and on Christmas.
Red (ruber) is the color of fire and blood. Red is used on Pentecost, Good Friday, Exultation of the Holy Cross and the feasts of martyrs.
Green (viridis) is the color of Hope and Renewal. Green is used most of the year in Ordinary Time.
Violet (violaceus) the colour of penitence, is worn in Advent and Lent.
Rose color (color rosaceus) vestments are worn instead of violet on the third Sunday of Advent (Gaudete) and mid-Lent Sunday (Laetare); on those two Sundays the Pope blessed golden roses for presentation to Catholic queens.
